Day 3 & 4 Sea Trial & Getting Boat Squared Away !

We started off yesterday watching our new boat TomKat Loaded onto the slings & driven to the water and splashed!Very Exciting! We made trips up & down the ladder several times in the last couple of days. It is nice to have it in the water to work on. We started getting familiar with the boat, then we met the previous owners Charles & Donna, who graciously showed us many things on the boat. With Charles & the broker Rich we went for a sea trial. It ran super for most of the trial then quit on us and we were not able to get her started. With 3 expert sailors, we were able to steer & Tom literally rowed her into the dock. It was found the fuel valve was inadvertently closed and that was resolved when opened. The oil pressure gauge is being replaced on Wednesday. Today we had a warranteed battery charger replaced and also replaced 2 defective house batteries. Tom has filled water jugs and hand filled 100 gallons of water into the boat. The water is off on the docks due to freezing temps. That is noteworthy in itself, but did I mention it is COLD outside! We are not in Florida anymore! We saw one flake today, we had mostly rain on & off today. There is unusually cold weather coming for this area & we are seriously thinking about staying here a few more days to get things ship shape & wait for the forecasted warmer weather that will be here next week. This boat yard also matched another marinas price when they found out we were going to another marina. We are still going through every inch of the boat learning everything we can before we leave. We appreciate all of the nice touches the previous owners have made & all of the wonderful things they left on the boat for us. We know they were sad to say good bye to this beautiful boat! We promised we would love & care for her & share our adventures with them. Tom also got the jib up. The main will go up when the weather breaks. Kathy shopped & stocked the boat with supplies. We had our first meal on board & spent our first night aboard last night. It was very comfortable & toasty with our heating system operating nicely. Kathy is enjoying cooking onboard with the nice galley. Will update again in a couple days.
